Authorities Monday identified a man who was fatally shot near Whittier, and the investigation into his death was continuing.
The shooting was reported at about 10 p.m. Sunday in the 5700 block of Esperanza Avenue, near Amigo Park west of the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The location is an unincorporated area next to the Whittier city limits, according to sheriff’s Deputy Tracy Koerner.
Fernando Dominguez, 22, of Montebello, died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. There was no suspect or motive information available.
