A bicyclist was killed after crashing with a vehicle in Perris, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department announced Saturday.

The crash was reported around 2:55 p.m. Friday at the intersection of A Street and Redding Way where responding deputies from the sheriff’s Perris station found an unresponsive bicyclist with major injuries.

Deputies performed lifesaving measures, but the bicyclist succumbed to the injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperative with deputies during the investigation.

Investigators believe the vehicle was attempting to make a left turn from Redding Way onto A Street when the bicyclist failed to yield at a stop sign and crashed with the front end of the vehicle.

The identity of the bicyclist was withheld pending notification to the next of kin.

Anyone with additional information regarding the crash was encouraged to contact Community Service Officer Johnson at 951-210-1000.
