Police at a driving under the influence operation in Pomona cited 20 motorists for operating a motor vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended or revoked license Saturday.

In addition to the cited drivers, police towed six vehicles out of the 742 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint, according to the Pomona Police Department’s Traffic Services Bureau.

The checkpoint was held at West Mission Blvd and Curran Place from 9 p.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Saturday.

DUI checkpoints are placed in locations based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests, the traffic services bureau said.

In 2023, the Pomona Police Department investigated 100 DUI collisions that resulted in two deaths and injured 60 people.
