A large debris pile that caught fire Thursday behind a Moreno Valley strip mall was contained before reaching the structure and causing damage.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 12:50 p.m. Thursday at 23960 Ironwood Ave., near Heacock Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency reported that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames in a rubbish pile in the immediate vicinity of a store and restaurant.
Firefighters quickly gained the upper hand, preventing the blaze from spreading, according to reports from the scene.
No businesses were evacuated.
The fire was fully contained shortly after 1 p.m.
There was no immediate word regarding its cause.
