Two 38-year-old men were wounded Friday in a drive-by shooting near the Central-Alameda neighborhood, west of Vernon that police say is gang-related.
Los Angeles Police Department officers from the department’s Newton Division responded to 1501 E. 41st and Compton Avenue at around 1:15 a.m. where they learned the suspects drove into nearby Ross Snyder Recreation Center and opened fire on the people inside the park, wounding the two victims, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
The victims were taken to a hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel in stable condition.
The suspects drove away from the scene in a black Dodge Charger, police said.
