A 25-year-old man who was found dead in an upscale neighborhood in Tarzana was identified by county authorities Saturday.
A security guard discovered Jose Torres lying on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds, Los Angeles Police Department investigators reported.
Officers from the West Valley Division were called at 12:30 a.m. Friday to 3876 Winford Drive, south of the Braemar Country Club in a gated community regarding a person down, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
Torres was identified as the victim by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s office.
Witnesses told police they heard gunshots before Torres was found.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel were called and pronounced Torres dead at the scene.
Police said they are treating his death as a homicide.
There was no suspect information available.
