Police sought the public’s help Monday in identifying the hit-and-run suspect who severely injured a 21-year-old pedestrian in the Pico-Union neighborhood.

The man was crossing Pico Boulevard from its south curb, heading east of Elden Avenue, between Hoover Street and Vermont Avenue, moments before being struck by a white Dodge Charger with dark-tinted windows traveling westbound on Pico Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The driver refused to stop and render aid as required by law, police said.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the location and took the pedestrian to a hospital, where he is recovering from critical injuries to his skull.

The city is offering the public a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the suspect.
