A convicted murderer was charged Tuesday with kidnapping a man for extortion or ransom in Midway City, according to court records.
Nhan Chinh Nguyen was charged with a felony count of kidnapping for ransom or extortion, according to the criminal complaint. He is accused of kidnapping the victim on Friday.
Nguyen did not enter a plea at his arraignment in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana on Tuesday. His arraignment was rescheduled for April 10 in the West Justice Center in Westminster.
Nguyen was convicted of murder in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Feb. 23, 2000, according to the complaint.
An Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman could not immediately provide details of the case.
