A 29-year-old man with a warrant for his arrest was booked on one count of assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly stabbing two men during a fight in Long Beach, authorities said Saturday.
The victims were walking in the 1400 block of Alamitos Avenue on Friday evening when Deandre Richard Woodrey approached and engaged in a fight with one of them, the Long Beach Police Department reported.
“Victim Two attempted to break up the fight, which resulted in the suspect revealing a knife and stabbing both victims,” police said. “Victim Two fled the scene and self-transported to a local hospital for his non-life-threatening stab wounds to his upper body.”
Officers dispatched to the location at about 6:55 p.m. Friday located the first victim, who was suffering from non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body, the department said. Paramedics took him to a hospital.
Officers spotted Woodrey shortly after their arrival, allegedly attempting to flee the scene. The Long Beach resident was apprehended and transported to the Long Beach Jail for booking, where his bail was set at $155,000.
