A man and a woman were killed Saturday in a crash in the Commerce area.

The crash occurred shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday at the Slauson Avenue off-ramp of the southbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The accident involved a tan sedan that was stopped on the right shoulder at the off-ramp, the CHP reported. The agency ordered two tow trucks to pick up vehicles that could be used as evidence, indicating more than one vehicle was involved.

A man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene. The Medical Examiner’s office identified the man as 21-year-old Luke Garcia.

Paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department were dispatched to the scene at 7:44 a.m. but did not transport anyone to a hospital, a county fire department dispatcher said.

A Sigalert, issued at 8:08 a.m. closing the Slauson Avenue on-ramp to the southbound freeway, was canceled at 12:34 p.m., according to the CHP.

Further details about the crash were not immediately available.
