A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy was killed Friday in an off-duty traffic collision in Torrance.
Deputy Daniel Okamoto joined the department in 2017 and was assigned to the Lomita Sheriff’s Station.
The crash occurred in the early morning hours at the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Skypark Drive, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
Okamoto “was known for his professionalism, humility and unwavering commitment to his friends and colleagues,” Sheriff Robert Luna wrote on social media.
Okamoto’s survivors include his parents, grandmother and brother.
