A hiker was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries after being rescued from a trail in Palm Desert Sunday.

Firefighters and rescue crews from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of an inaccessible rescue involving one person at around 10:15 a.m. Sunday northwest of the Bump and Grind trail entrance, the Riverside County Fire Department reported.

Upon making contact, a sheriff’s department Rescue9 helicopter hoisted the hiker to the designated landing zone where a ground ambulance was waiting to take the victim to a hospital.

The hiker’s gender and age were not immediately available.
