Two spot fires that broke out Monday alongside Highway 79 in French Valley were quickly contained, posing no threat to structures or traffic.
The non-injury blazes were reported at 4:12 p.m. on the northbound side of the 79 at Willows Avenue, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered the two small fires moving at a slow rate through medium brush.
Firefighters encircled the spots and knocked down both at 4:30 p.m., according to reports from the scene.
The total acreage burned was well under a quarter acre.
No lane closures were required on the highway.
There was no immediate word on what might have triggered the fires.
