A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Santa Ana, police said Sunday.

Authorities received multiple calls regarding a pedestrian down in traffic lanes in the area of 2100 N. Bristol St. shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.

Officers, along with the Orange County Fire Authority, responded to the scene and located an adult male in the roadway next to a vehicle. Despite lifesaving efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by the OCFA.

Based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed the pedestrian was walking westbound across the northbound lanes of Bristol Street when he was struck by the vehicle, which was traveling north.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, but police said alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor.

The department’s Collision Investigations Unit is investigating the death. Anyone with information about the accident was asked to contact Detective Corporal D. Carrillo at 714-245-8208, or the department’s Traffic Division at 714-245-8200.
