A report of a person apparently suffering a mental health crisis that may have involved shots being fired at a Lynwood home led to a response by sheriff’s deputies Thursday, and later fire officials when the home caught fire.
Deputies responded to the 4800 block of Olanda Street around 4:30 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Century Station.
KCAL9 reported that a resident at the location had apparently stopped taking required prescription medications and began attacking family members. Arriving sheriff’s deputies were able to take the person into custody, but they also discovered the home on fire.
Los Angeles County fire crews were summoned to douse the flames, which appeared to cause significant damage to the home.
No injuries were reported.
