Police announced Monday that 11 individuals suspected of retail theft in downtown Los Angeles were taken into custody.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to the intersection of Seventh and Figueroa streets on Sunday in response to various businesses at FIGat7th Plaza continuously plagued by retail theft.
Police employed a blitz operation, a strategic deployment of law enforcement resources and personnel to address and combat specific issues of interest, such as organized retail theft crimes.
On Sunday, the following 11 suspects were arrested during the blitz operation:
— 19-year-old Nicole Allman-Dean;
— 20-year-old Breajanika Johnson;
— 20-year-old Serlo Allyene;
— 21-year-old Nanely Esquivel;
— 24-year-old Parris Gregory;
— 28-year-old Donald Gregory;
— 33-year-old Ailena Vargas;
— 34-year-old Ted Newman;
— 37-year-old Gabriel Simmons;
— 47-year-old Ebony Holt; and,
— 57-year-old Jerry Ivory.
“Under the Los Angeles County misdemeanor bail schedule, several of the suspects were eligible for cite and release; others had pending warrants,” police said in a statement.
