Two people were hospitalized Saturday in fair condition after a vehicle crashed into a two-story apartment building, which then caught fire near the Exposition Park area.
The crash and fire were reported at approximately 1:50 a.m. in the 200 block of East 23rd Street east of Main Street, where Los Angeles Fire Department crews found fire on the first floor of the building, said LAFD spokesman Nicholas Prange.
Fire crews were able to contain the flames to one unit in the building, Prange said.
In addition to the two victims who were taken to a hospital, two others were examined but declined further care.
It took 52 firefighters 22 minutes to extinguish the flames.
