Five people were arrested during two DUI checkpoints in Riverside County, authorities said Saturday.

The first checkpoint was conducted from 7 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. in Temecula near the intersection of Rancho California and Margarita Roads. A total of 872 vehicles were contacted and three people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The second checkpoint was conducted from 10 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. in Jurupa Valley near the intersection of Rubidoux Boulevard and 24th Street. Two people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence at that location.

Funding for both checkpoints was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
