A jogger was fatally struck by a motorist in Menifee who fled the scene, authorities said Thursday.
The hit-and-run fatality occurred just after 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 28700 block of Bradley Road, near Yorba Linda Court, according to the Menifee Police Department.
Agency spokesman Chase Coburn said that the victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was jogging northbound on the east shoulder of Bradley — with traffic coming from behind him — when he was hit by a motorist traveling at an unconfirmed speed.
“The driver of the vehicle made no attempt to stop, and fled the scene,” Coburn said.
Witnesses stopped and called 911.
Riverside County Fire Department paramedics reached the location minutes later and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
“The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect vehicle is possibly a 2021-23 Hyundai Elantra,” Coburn said.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the Menifee police Traffic Unit at 951-723-1690.
