A brush fire erupted Wednesday on a hillside northeast of the Pomona (60) Freeway in Jurupa Valley, burning roughly 15 acres but not immediately threatening any structures as crews deployed to the location.

The non-injury blaze was reported at about 10:15 a.m. in the area of Lotus and Canal streets, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said multiple engine and hand crews from the county and Riverside Fire Department were sent to the blaze, encountering flames moving at a moderate rate through medium brush.

Two Cal Fire air tankers arrived just before 11 a.m. and initiated runs on the brusher while firefighters hiked to the fire lines.

No evacuation orders were imminent as of 11:10 a.m.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known.
