Felony charges were expected to be filed Friday against a 23-year-old man suspected of abducting a Perris resident.
Jaden I. Ross of Riverside was arrested and booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta Wednesday on suspicion of kidnapping to commit robbery and assault resulting in great bodily injury. Ross is being held on $1 million bail.
The case was under review Thursday by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
According to sheriff’s Sgt. Chad Thompson, the alleged abduction occurred in the predawn hours of May 27.
Thompson said that patrol deputies were called to a residence in the 29000 block of Placentia Avenue, near Eureka Street, to investigate reports of a person in distress.
Thompson said that deputies encountered the victim — whose identity was not disclosed, including gender — who alleged a man had forcibly taken the party from one location to another.
“The victim was able to escape their alleged captor and, with the help of a citizen, call 911,” the sergeant said. “The suspect had already fled the scene.”
Further investigation led to the identification of Ross as the alleged kidnapper, according to Thompson.
The suspect was tracked to a property on Magnolia Avenue in Riverside, where he was taken into custody without incident at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Details regarding how Ross and the victim were acquainted, if at all, and why the victim was allegedly targeted were not provided.
