A student was stabbed following South El Monte High School’s graduation ceremony, authorities said.
The stabbing occurred around 9:20 p.m. Wednesday in the 1000 block of Durfee Avenue, just outside the football field’s fence, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
A fight occurred outside the school, resulting in a male student getting stabbed in the chest. He was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, but he’s expected to survive, according to an ABC7 report.
The victim did not appear to be a graduating student, according to the report.
No suspect description was available, and a motive for the stabbing was unclear. No further information was immediately available.
