Sheriff’s investigators are continuing their search Saturday for evidence and suspects in a shooting in Compton that killed one man and injured five other people at a residence were approximately 100 people were attendance.
Deputies were sent to the intersection of Mayo Avenue and Greenleaf Boulevard outside Compton College around 8 p.m. Friday, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s homicide Lt. Omar Camacho.
Deputies reported seeing approximately 100 people leaving a residence. They were directed to the rear of the location and discovered a victim with apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses at the scene told ABC7 the shooting occurred at a pool party at a home nearby. Video from the scene showed deputies searching the backyard of a home for evidence.
Five injured victims — three women and two man — were taken to a hospital, according to the Compton Fire Department. They were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
KCAL 9 reported a sixth victim walked into a hospital two hours after the shooting.
There was no description of a suspect.
