A two-vehicle crash caused a car to sever a fire hydrant in Lake Forest Saturday evening.

The crash was reported shortly before 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Jeronimo Road and Heidi Avenue, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

Based on information received by dispatchers, firefighters believed people were trapped inside the vehicles but both drivers were out when they arrived, fire officials said. Paramedics treated the two drivers at the scene and took them to a hospital.

Video from the scene showed the rear of the silver four-door sedan elevated by the flow of water from the severed hydrant.

Firefighters at the scene reduced the water flow enough to lower the car and make shutoff possible, officials said.
