Felony charges are expected to be filed Wednesday against a 57-year-old Good Hope man suspected of gunning down his wife.
William Thomas Dunlap was arrested and booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on Sunday on suspicion of murder for the death of 56-year-old Kimberly Sue Dunlap.
The suspect is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
The case was under review Tuesday by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
According to Sgt. Alberto Loureiro of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the fatal attack happened shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday at a property in the 25000 block of Highway 74, near Mapes Road.
Loureiro said patrol deputies and paramedics were called to the location and found Kimberly Dunlap suffering from a single gunshot wound.
First responders attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
Central Homicide Unit detectives took over the investigation, detaining Dunlap for questioning without incident.
The suspect was booked into custody early Sunday morning.
A possible motive wasn’t disclosed, and background information on William Dunlap was unavailable.
