A brush fire that was intentionally ignited Friday at a Good Hope property burned roughly a half-acre before crews contained it.
The non-injury blaze was reported about 12:10 p.m. in the area of Floral Avenue and Read Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that several engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a slow rate through medium brush.
No structures were threatened.
Firefighters completely encircled the brusher by 12:30 p.m.
Cal Fire investigators were requested to the location because the fire captain overseeing the containment operation determined the blaze had been intentionally ignited, identifying it as an “illegal burn,” possibly to clear vegetation, according to reports from the scene.
It was not immediately clear whether the property owner or someone else was responsible.
