A 54-year-old Alaskan man riding his bicycle in Westminster was struck and killed by a Lincoln Towncar about 40 minutes before sunrise Friday.

Officers responded to the intersection of 20th Street and Beach Boulevard around 5 a.m. Friday regarding a crash where a tan Towncar had struck a bicyclist riding in traffic lanes, according to Westminster Police Department Sgt. Eddie Esqueda.

Orange County Fire Authority paramedics responded to the location a short time later, where they pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene and called 911.

Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be factor in the collision, Esqueda said.

The victim’s name was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

Anyone with information regarding the accident was urged to contact Westminster Police Department Traffic Division Investigator Stewart DeJong at 714-548-3787. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS or visit occrimestoppers.org.
