A brush fire that torched about 8 1/2 acres of grass Sunday was fully contained by Costa Mesa and Orange County Fire Authority firefighters.

The blaze ignited around 1:15 p.m. Sunday, according to OCFA Capt. Sean Doran. The blaze ignited near 1298 Victoria St., near Pacific Avenue and the Talbert Nature Preserve, the Costa Mesa Fire Department reported.

Park Rangers initially spotted the brush fire, Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue Capt. Chris Coates said. The Costa Mesa Fire department worked in a unified command with the OCFA.

Voluntary evacuations for residents on Swan Drive were established, and later lifted.

Two teens suffered minor injuries, one of whom was transported to a hospital, Doran said.

The fire was fully contained and some firefighters were expected to remain on the scene to put out any hotspots, he said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
