A brush fire that erupted Monday north of Moreno Valley quickly burned five acres as crews deployed to the remote location, where no homes or other structures were immediately threatened.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 12:32 p.m. in the area of Reche Canyon and Stewart roads, near the boundary separating Riverside and San Bernardino counties, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Multiple engine and hand crews were sent to the location and encountered flames burning at a moderate rate through open space.

Firefighters were relying on dirt pathways to reach the fire lines. Cal Fire aircraft were requested to make runs on the brusher.

No evacuation orders or warnings appeared imminent.

Hot, dry conditions were prevalent, with the high in the Riverside metropolitan area predicted to reach 96 degrees Monday afternoon.

There was no immediate word regarding how the brusher started. It was the third one in that general vicinity over the last two months.
