Firefighters were battling a commercial structure fire in Glendale Sunday that spread to an adjacent building.

Police received a 911 call of a fire at 11:25 a.m. Sunday at Salem Street and San Fernando Road and notified the city’s fire department, according to a Glendale Police Department watch commander.

The official said a little later that evacuations were made, but no injuries have been reported.

The fire was sending a large plume of smoke into the air that was visible in the Glendale and Burbank area. The fire is located in an industrial area that runs just east of the Los Angeles River.

The cause of the fire was not immediately apparent.
