Amid a continuing heat wave, flames consumed about five acres of grass Friday and several structures in Palmdale.

The fire was reported around 6 p.m. in the area of 12th Street East and Avenue Q5. Crews on the scene reported hearing some explosions from the vicinity of the blaze.

Crews on the scene reported that at least three outbuildings were damaged or destroyed by the flames, along with a pair of vehicles and a boat.

The blaze was largely doused within an hour.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

It was unclear what sparked the fire.
