Approximately 2 acres of burning brush were extinguished by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel in Van Nuys, authorities said Saturday.
Fire crews were called at 11:16 p.m. Friday to the 5600 block of North Woodley Avenue near the Sepulveda Basin where they encountered two separate small fires. Firefighters were able to merge them and put the flames out, said LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz.
No injuries were reported and several fire companies will remain at the scene to address hot spots and ensure no further threat remains, Lantz said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation
