A fire that tore through a mobile home in Homeland Tuesday injured one of the occupants and caused major damage to the structure.
The blaze was reported at 12:33 p.m. in the 25000 block of Avenida Valencia, near Mapes Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered heavy smoke pouring out of the doublewide mobile home, from which both occupants evacuated.
Firefighters contained the blaze within a half-hour.
One of the occupants suffered unspecified injuries, possibly while trying to extinguish the fire, and an ambulance was summoned to transport the victim to a hospital. But he declined medical attention, according to officials at the scene.
Due to the extensive damage to the residence, the occupants, whose identities were not disclosed, were displaced, and Red Cross personnel were summoned to assist them with finding temporary alternate lodgings.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
