A body that was found at the base of a San Pedro cliff a week ago was identified Thursday as a 95-year-old man who had gone missing in the area three days earlier.
Walter Curtis Wolfe, also known as Curt, was last seen July 8 in the 300 block of North Malgren Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. His vehicle was found unoccupied at Point Fermin Park in the 800 block of West Paseo Del Mar, where he often went for walks, police said.
At about 4:50 p.m. July 11, a body was found at the bottom of the cliffs below Point Fermin Park.
An Los Angeles Fire Department rescue helicopter crew hoisted the body from the base of the cliff. Police said Thursday the body was confirmed to be that of Wolfe.
It was unclear how Wolfe wound up at the bottom of the cliff.
