A fire that threatened nearby buildings at a vacant one-story residence was contained and extinguished Thursday by Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters.

Fire crews were called to 618 N. Juanita Ave. at 4:32 a.m. between Clinton Street and Melrose Avenue where they fought the flames with an exterior attack, said LAFD spokesman Nicholas Prange.

They were able to prevent other buildings from being burned and it took 46 firefighters 41 minutes to extinguish the flames.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no injuries were reported, Prange said.
