A man involved in an argument in Lancaster was stabbed to death Tuesday, and the suspect was still at large.

Investigators responded to the 800 block of West Avenue J-1 around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday regarding a stabbing, where a man was lying on the ground after attempting to flee from the location by jumping over a fence into a parking lot, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

As investigators were responding at the location, the initial dispatch call updated to a possible arson. There were no reports of any injuries or structural damage from a fire.

“Deputies canvassed the parking lot area and found the victim, a male Black adult, laying on the ground suffering from stab wounds,” sheriff’s officials said in a statement.

The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he later died.

Investigators said the stabbing stemmed from an argument between the victim and another man who fled the scene before deputies arrived. There was no description of the suspect.

Anyone with information regarding the stabbing or the whereabouts of the suspect was urged to contact the LASD’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
