A grass fire that broke out Wednesday adjacent to the Riverside (91) Freeway scorched a half-acre and disrupted traffic but did not threaten any homes.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 2:48 p.m. along the eastbound 91 at the Spruce Street exit ramp, according to the Riverside Fire Department.
The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames burning at a slow rate through light vegetation.
Firefighters quickly encircled the fire, completely containing it at 3:05 p.m., according to reports from the scene.
The blaze was determined to be the result of outdoor cooking in a backyard, officials said.
Fire prevention officers were summoned to speak with the party responsible.
