A woman running across the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway in the Carson area was struck and killed by a semitractor-trailer Wednesday evening.

The woman was struck at 9:32 p.m. Wednesday near the Carson Street off-ramp on the border of Carson and the unincorporated West Carson area, California Highway Patrol Officer Sean Lough told City News Service.

The woman was found lying in the middle lanes of the freeway and pronounced dead at the scene, Lough said.

The driver of the semitractor-trailer remained at the scene and is cooperating with officers, Lough said.

The CHP issued a SigAlert for the closure of two lanes of the freeway while officers investigated the cause of the crash.
