A bicyclist was in the hospital in critical condition Monday after being struck by a vehicle driven by a man who was trying to get away from San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies in El Segundo.
The crash occurred about 2 p.m. Sunday in the area of Center Street and Mariposa Avenue, according to the El Segundo Police Department.
KCAL reported that a deputy in the sheriff’s gang narcotics team tried to pull over the suspect but the suspect rammed the deputy’s car and took off. The deputies found the injured bicyclist while looking for the suspect.
