A Buena Park police officer was injured Monday morning when a man in a car allegedly ran a stop sign and crashed into his patrol SUV.
The crash happened at 1:49 a.m. at Knott and Naomi avenues, Buena Park police Sgt. Kevin Gano told City News Service.
The officer was driving southbound on Knott Avenue when his unit was struck by a car that was eastbound on Naoimi Avenue, Gano said. It was not known whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
The officer was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment of unknown injuries, he said.
A news videographer at the scene said witnesses told him the car did not stop at a stop sign.
The California Highway Patrol was investigating because an officer was involved in the crash.
