An investigation was continuing Tuesday into what caused an SUV to crash down an embankment off the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Castaic, killing three men and critically injuring a fourth.

The crash was reported at about 4:30 p.m. Monday near Templin Highway, where the victims were found inside a black Nissan Armada, California Highway Patrol Officer Sean Lough told City News Service.

The three men were pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel.

The county Department of Medical Examiner on Tuesday identified one of the men as 24-year-old Ceyontay Davo Bell.

A fourth victim was taken by paramedics to a hospital in critical condition.

The CHP issued a SigAlert that closed all lanes of the southbound portion of the freeway in the vicinity of the crash for several hours during the investigation into the cause of the crash.
