A suspect was taken into custody Wednesday after attacking a woman at a Metro station in Pasadena.

Deputies responded to the Metro A Line’s Allen Station around 5:40 a.m., where a suspect was arrested, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Transit Services Bureau.

The details leading up to the attack remain limited.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger commended the transit deputies for responding quickly.

“This incident is a perfect example of why we need to urgently address safety issues, not only on the Metro train system but also at stations,” Barger said in a statement.

Barger also said that she expects a full report from Metro concerning security measures that will be put in place to assure safety, especially during early morning commute hours.

“Our Metro Board has already taken some steps to improve public safety, including enforcing fares. But it’s obvious to me that our Metro system commuters are still confronted with serious issues that cannot be ignored,” Barger said.

The woman was taken to a hospital and listed in stable condition, according to ABC7.

There was no detailed description of the suspect, identified only as a man.
