Five people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol during a DUI checkpoint in Eastvale, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department announced Saturday.

The checkpoint was conducted near the intersection of Schleisman Road and Archibald Avenue from 7 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday, and a total of 1,106 vehicles were screened, according to the sheriff’s department.

Five people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and an additional person was arrested for a miscellaneous misdemeanor, the department reported.

Deputies cited 23 drivers for driving without a driver’s license.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes.

Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
