A person suffered burns in a smoky fire in a small bungalow Saturday evening in the Larchmont area of Los Angeles.

The fire was first reported at 9:48 p.m. Saturday at 632 N. Plymouth Blvd., just south of Melrose Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Margaret Stewart. Arriving firefighters reported heavy smoke billowing from one unit.

It took 36 firefighters 12 minutes to put out the fire and prevent it from spreading to the adjoining bungalows, she said.

One person was taken to a hospital by ambulance for treatment of burns to extremities, Stewart said.

When there is a burn injury in a fire, an arson investigation is conducted, she said.
