Three people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol during DUI checkpoints in Riverside County, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department announced Saturday.
Two people were arrested during a checkpoint near the intersection of Jefferson and Sanborn Avenues in Temecula from 7 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday.
One other person was arrested during a checkpoint near the intersection of Heacock Street and Webster Avenue in Moreno Valley from 8 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday.
A total of 267 vehicles were contacted in the Temecula checkpoint while 524 vehicles were contacted in the Moreno Valley checkpoint.
A third checkpoint was held Friday night near the intersection of Esplanade Avenue and State Street in San Jacinto from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., and resulted in the arrest of one person on suspicion of stealing a vehicle and one other person for an outstanding warrant, according to the sheriff’s department.
Funding for all three checkpoints was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
