Six citations were issued at a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint in Burbank, the department announced Tuesday.

On Aug. 17, officers conducted the checkpoint at Hollywood Way between Winona and Tulare avenues from 7:45 p.m. until 12:30 a.m., according to the Burbank Police Department.

A total of 600 vehicles were screened, and the average travel time for vehicles passing through the checkpoint was about 30.09 seconds, according to Burbank police Traffic Bureau Lt. John Pfrommer.

Four citations were issued for driving without a valid license, two citations were issued for unspecified traffic violations and four field sobriety tests were conducted, officials said.

The BPD will continue to deploy DUI saturation patrols over the next several months, according to the department.

Funding for the operations is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
