An 18-year-old man was charged Tuesday with killing a lizard and a rabbit in Ladera Ranch.
Donovan Nathanael Hendrickson was charged with two felony counts of cruelty to animals with sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a deadly weapon.
Hendrickson pleaded not guilty and was scheduled for a pretrial hearing Sept. 5 at the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach. He was ordered held on $1 million bail.
Hendrickson allegedly killed a lizard July 20 with a knife, according to the criminal complaint. He is also accused of killing a rabbit with a pellet gun on July 24, according to the complaint.
An Orange County sheriff’s spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for details.
