Three men in their 20s on probation suspected of committing a home invasion in Sherman Oaks were taken into custody in Compton, police said Tuesday.
Los Angeles Police Department Metropolitan Division officers observed a black vehicle with three suspects following a home invasion robbery in the 15200 block of Greenleaf Street, near Sepulveda Boulevard, during the late evening hours Monday, according to police.
The responding officers tracked the suspects with the assistance of the LAPD Air Support Division until the 1000 block of West 152nd Street in Compton, between Wilmington and Central avenues, where all three men exited the vehicle and ran away.
“Metropolitan Division K-9 conducted a search, and all three suspects were apprehended,” police said in a statement.
Investigators identified the men as 22-year-old Isaiah Rankins, 21-year-old Juan Carlos Gonzalez and 24-year-old Dion Hill, all residents of Los Angeles.
They were booked on suspicion of home invasion robbery with bail set at $175,000, including enhancements for previous burglaries and supervised probation for firearm possession.
According to police, all three suspects are on supervised release. LAPD’s Commercial Crimes Division executed three search warrants Tuesday morning in Compton and two additional locations in South Los Angeles.
Investigators recovered property at the Compton residence connected to the Sherman Oaks home invasion robbery, linking the three suspects to the crime.
“The collaboration of the various enforcement and investigative entities from within the Los Angeles Police Department is what brought this case together,” interim LAPD Chief Dominic Choi said.
“We will continue to utilize resources to address residential burglaries in Encino, West Los Angeles and any other Los Angeles neighborhood being targeted by criminals. While arresting these individuals is a step in the right direction, our work is not done.”
