An 80-year-old man who allegedly fired at a woman in North Long Beach was taken into custody after a standoff, authorities said Thursday.

Officers responded to a shooting call around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 5800 block of Falcon Avenue, near South Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

A female victim told police a man walked out of a residence and fired a gun at her, then went back in, according to the LBPD.

A perimeter was established in the area and a SWAT team was brought in, ultimately ending with deployment of gas into the building and the man’s surrender, police said. A firearm was recovered at the scene.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported 80-year-old Salvador Salazar to a local hospital for medical clearance. He was later booked for suspicion of attempted murder.
