Two people were found dead in a Glendora house that went up in flames early Monday.

The fire was reported about 2:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Danecroft Avenue, near Route 66 and Lone Hill Avenue, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Jonathan Torres.

Torres said he could not give out any further information. Glendora police were not immediately available. The cause of the fire was under investigation.

Early reports indicated that a 71-year-old man was found dead at the scene and his 68-year-old wife was missing.

Late Monday morning, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s office reported that two bodies had been found at the scene.

NBC4 reported that the body of a woman in her 60s was found at the scene, along with a that of a 71-year-old man.

It was not confirmed by law enforcement officials whether the woman found in the residence was the man’s wife.

The man was later identified by the medical examiner’s office as Dwayne Moody.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was assisting Glendora police in the investigation.

Lt. Steve De Jong of the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau said in a statement the man who died in the fire was found in a bedroom. It was unclear where the woman was located.

Investigators also discovered at least one dead dog toward the rear of the home.

“The female (wife) is currently unaccounted for and missing,” he said.

“Investigators learned that a male and female adult live at the location,” according to the sheriff’s department. “The couple was having marital issues and the female had recently filed for divorce.”

De Jong told Fox11 at the scene, “We were told by Glendora Police Department that they were here about a month earlier in regards to a domestic violence incident.”

NBC4 reported that the woman’s vehicle was at the residence and that she was last seen Sunday evening with family, citing information from De Jong.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
